The baby had been screaming far to loud, and Callum needed to stop the ringing in his ears. Escaping, he soon found himself walking mindlessly, arriving later at Melody Park. It was full of couples walking, flowers blooming, and children running.
Patting his messanger bag, he was fortionate enough to have remembered to bring his camera, the one thing he had gotten from his father for his birthday. It was a fancy one, an i'm-sorry-i-got-married-and-made-you-horribly-depressed-and-replaced gift.
Pulling it out, he leant down and took a picture of a pretty orange flower that was bloomed widely, staring up at the big blue sky. Then he stood up and began to search for more things to take pictures of, to take his mind of his treturous half-sibling back home.

Brett was sick of her new roomate, Tinsley Branch, and her constant bitching. So, in the middle of the upteenth argument of the day, Tinsley pushed it too far, and Brett ran out of the dorm, wanting to escape the princess and her affairs.
Brett loved Melody park; everything there was just so beautiful and serene. She walked over to an old Willow tree and sat down, in the shade. She didn't see anyone she reconized yet, so, she layed down in the grass, wishing there was snow on the ground. Even though Brett always acted tough, she still loved to make snow angels. Brett could feel the warm shunshine shining down on her, and she smiled. She loved this place.

After a minutes of searching and snapping random pictures, Callum spotted a pretty willow tree, large and strong. But that wasn't what really caught his attention. It was the girl beneath it, laying there, looking serene and calm and happy. He approached her slowly, and when he was about eight meters away, snapped a picture of her and the tree, looking lovely.
But the snap of the camera may have been too loud. Callum gasped, shoving the camera in his bag as he began to stumble backwards, trying to find a tree to hide behind so that if the girl looked up, she wouldn't find out that he had taken a picture of her. It may sound perverted, but she looked so cool with the beautiful tree looming over her, it made a great picture. Callum just had to take a picture.

Brett heard the clicking of a camera, and sat up. Seeing a guy holding a camera, she smiled. He didn't look crazy, and he was kinda cute too. "Hey. I'm Brett," she said, with a smile. She could understand why he was taking pictures here; after all it was one of the most pretty places in Connecticut.
Brett hoped the guy wasn't going to run for it; she needed someone to talk to. She crossed her legs, and pulled her hair into a low ponytail. The wind was blowing a little, and it was making her hair go crazy. "Do you study photography?" She asked, motioning to the expensive looking camera.

Callum's face paled when she looked up at him and smiled. Then she introduced herself as Brett, and he gulped with fear. He wasn't social in the least, especially with people of the female gender.
Then she asked him if he studied photography, gesturing to his camera that was frozen in his hands, half in his bag half out. He looked down at it, face still frozen, then looked back up, shaking his head dumbly. He dropped the camera into his bag and took small steps towards her, as if she were a giant monster that was threatening to eat him or something.
He watched her, not saying a word, worried she really wanted to start a conversation. Callum's heart sped up a bit, and he wished he had've fled as soon as he saw her.

Brett saw that this boy looked freaked, so she tried a kinder approach. "You know, I used to be really shy too. And I promise I won't bite you or anything," She said, looking up at him. She noticed he had really pretty blue eyes, like her mom did.
Brett hoped this guy wasn't afraid of her. If he had heard anything about her, he was probably thinking of the rocker-chick attitude she usually had. Brett started humming along to the song she had stuck in her head, and picked up a flower, a lily to be exact, off the ground, and stuck it behind her left ear. I probably look silly, she thought.

She told him she had been shy too. This Callum highly doubted. Then she said that she wouldn't bite. He would have loved to be able to laugh at that remark, but his mouth stayed put, a thin line on his face.
Brett picked up a lily behind her ear, and Callum figured she was expecting him to stay and talk. Both sounded equally scary.
Taking a few more steps closer, her let a small sigh escape his lips as he fell down infront of her, sitting down with his legs crossed in the way kindergardeners sit when it's story time and such.
For support, he took out his camera and began to fiddle with it, always feeling better when he had his camera in his hands.

"You certainly talk a lot," Brett noted, with a smile. "And I bet I look silly, right?" She asked, not expected him to answer. She fiddled with the bracelet on her right wrist, trying to remember what she had planned for later.
After a moment of thinking, Brett gave up, and started picking random pieces of grass, just to watch it gently blow away with the wind. She looked up at the sky, cloudless and gorgeous, before letting her gaze set on the quiet boy again. He looked nervous, so she decided to just wait and see if he wasn't mute or something.

Callum smiled shyly, shrugging. It was true, though. He rarely spoke, to anyone. He decided to cut her some slack and at least talk a little bit.
"You don't look funny. You look pretty," he said, looking down as he continued to fiddle with his camera. He picked it up and took a quick picture of Brett, turning the camera so that she could see the picture of her on the screen.

Brett smiled, as he finally spoke. "Thanks," she said, after he took anothe picture. She looked at the picture, after he tilted the camera towards her. "You're are really doog photographer, you know," She said, turning towards him.
She hoped he would talk again, because she wouldn't give up until he did. Up in the sky, Brett could see people in hot air balloons, probably having a great time. "Wouldn't it be scary being up in one of those things?" Brett asked to herself, not really expecting an answer. Around them, a little girl was picking flowers and putting them into a basket, a dog and it's owner were playing frisbee, and a couple was sitting down lost in eachother's gaze. Brett was used to so many of those things, but they always seem so much more special in the park, rather than anywhere else.

Callum shrugged. He wasn't really that good.... was he?
He looked up at the hot air balloons as well. He nodded.
"My uncle owned one of those. When I was young, he took me up there. I guess it would be scary for some people, but I loved it. I just wish I could've gotten pictures of the view. It was amazing," he said, before dropping his gaze to the other people in the park. A girl picking flowers, a dog and it's owner playing frisbee, and a couple having a total romantic moment. Each of these, Callum took a picture of, thinking it looked nice and he wanted to savour the moment.
Looking back at Brett, he eyed her up and down.
"If you don't mind me asking, where in the social scale do you fit in? I don't think I've seen you around. But I guess that's normal, seeing as I don't see many pretty popular girls a lot." He laughed lightly. He had really started talking, and it surprised him. He didn't even talk this openly to his own friends, who he rarely hung out with anyway.

Brett thought for a minute before answering his question. "Well I generally try to stay away from the popular girls, cause their total snobs, and most of my friends gratuated last year so I don't really know anymore..." She answered, suddenly missing her old friends.
She decided not to think about them, and turned back to the guy, whose name she still didn't know. "And where do you stand on the lovely social latter of idiots, mystery boy?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

Callum, surprisingly,grinned.
"Mystery boy? Now, that's a new title. I like it." He leaned back, analizing Brett more. She was pretty, but Callum was too confused about love at that moment to bother thinking about her in that way.
"I am quite low, titled the Emo boy. I've got a few friends, but who needs 'em? I'm just trying to get out of this god forsaken place and go back to England. My accent is vanishing," he sighed, looking up at the sky. He used to have a strong english accent, but it was slowly fading after being here for so long.

"I went to England one summer. It rained, like every day. Good thing I like the rain, eh? And the darkish clouds look very nice in my bad touristy pictures," Brett said, with a grin. She liked to take pictures, but she wasn't that great. She was better at musical skills.
"So, Mystery Boy," Brett said, using his new nickname. "Do you like anything other than photography? Like guitar, or singing, or painting, or collecting cats?" She asked, laughing at the last one. "I like all but the collecting cats one," She said, with a smile.

Callum grinned as she called him by his new nickname. It was funny, he got a nickname from her before she actually found out what his name was. He wondered if he would end up telling her.
"Eh.... I play the electric guitar.... And I think that's it. The Mystery Boy has no life." Callum grinned, shrugging.
"Oh, and were you planning on having me tell you my real name? Though, I rather fancy my new nickname."
